The treasures report was read by Stephanie Clark and is attached.
OLD BUSINESS
- State convention Feb 25th was very successful with a great turnout locally and from Dothan. We donated $250 to The American Heart Association and Dothan donated $75. Dianne Hughes sat in for the State Secretary in her absence. Elizabeth Heideman was elected State Advisor and Jessica Alford elected Vice President. We won the scrapbook competition. The food was excellent and the goodie bags were a great success. Thanks to all who helped.
- Habitat for Humanity is requested dates we can work. The group chose May 20th at 8am. Stephanie will confirm and e-mail the members.
NEW BUSINESS
- New Member Induction is April 28th at 6 p.m. and we need volunteers to meet here in the lobby at 4:30. Please e-mail Stephanie if you can come. Dr. Western will check with Sue to have the banner hung. Melvin Cooper was mentioned as a possible speaker.
- May 4th is graduation. Members signing up to usher need to be here by 5:30. There will only be one ceremony.
- Teacher of the Year- We have received some nominations. Three people volunteered to help Stephanie choose from the nominations. These members were Jennifer Conway, Kay Hildensperger and Christine Parrish. We will meet April 19th at 5:00 p.m. here in the lobby.
- We have been requested to participate in a Walk in Mississippi. Members were reminded to report any volunteer work they do outside Gamma Beta Phi for points.
- Elections-With the small attendance at tonight’s meeting and the number of graduating Seniors who may not return, discussion was held about postponing new officer elections. Dr. Western suggested asking if anyone was interested in being an officer. The following new officers were elected by acclamation: Jackie Walker, Secretary; Sam Shearin, Historian; Rod Sullen, Vice-President; and Jennifer Conway, President. Stephanie Clark moved that the officers be elected by acclimation. Willie Billups seconded the motion and the motion passed. The new officers will be sworn in at the nest meeting, June 2.
- The meeting was adjourned at 6:53 by Stephanie Clark.
Seniors remained for the Senior Meeting.
- Stephanie reported they had been flooded with e-mails about points. Many say they have paid their dues and are entitled to their ropes. They will not be able to have ropes if they do not have points. Requirements are 42 per year or 14 per semester, they must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA to get in and maintain a 3.0 GPA. If the drop below 3.0 they have one semester to fix it.
- If members have participated, they have been visible at meetings and other activities. It is not fair to those who consistently participate if members who do not get ropes with no participation.
- Inductions-family invited.
- Photographer-Stephanie will check.
- Graduation, please wear dark light weight clothes and be early.
- Sam read from printed graduation instructions.
